Our Mission
American Civic Power is dedicated to promoting engagement in American civics and strengthening participation in democracy. We believe that an informed, organized, and motivated citizenry is the most powerful force in a free society.

A Democracy Under Pressure
Over the past few decades, forces have emerged that run counter to the will of ordinary Americans. The outdated Electoral College has undermined our presidential elections. The Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision (January 21, 2010) opened the floodgates to corporate dark money in politics — giving corporations undue influence over Congress and forcing elected officials to prioritize special interests over the people they were chosen to represent.
Article I of our Constitution authorizes Congress to represent the American people directly. That promise is being broken.

The Threat of Corporate Privatization
Today, the goal of the power elite in Washington is to fully privatize the public sector — dismantling the institutions that protect ordinary Americans for the sole benefit of corporations. This agenda, a cornerstone of Project 2025, threatens to render our democracy ineffective — a democracy originally designed to promote equity and equality for all.
It is time for concerned Americans to stand up and resist. We must demand a democracy that serves the people, not one corrupted by money and privatization.

What We're Fighting For
American Civic Power advocates for reforms that return power to the people:
-
Repeal Citizens United — to restore integrity to campaign finance and end the flood of dark money into our elections.
-
Adopt Ranked-Choice Voting — to give voters more meaningful choices and reduce polarization.
-
Implement Proportional Representation — to ensure Congress truly reflects the will of the American people.
